OVERLAND PARK/OLATHE, Kan. – Heartland Soccer Association, the largest tournament and league host of youth soccer in the United States, is excited to announce the extension of it’s long standing partnership with Prairiefire as the title sponsor of the Heartland Midwest Classic.

The sold-out Heartland Midwest Classic Presented by Prairiefire will be held Labor Day weekend, September 2-4, 2022 at two of the region’s top rated soccer facilities, Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex and the Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex. The tournament is set to host more than 160 teams from six states. With teams traveling in from all over the Kansas City metropolitan area and various states, the economic impact is estimated to be $2.1 million over the weekend.

“We are very excited to partner with such a successful and well respected youth sports association. Heartland Soccer has an impressive history of hosting best-in-class soccer tournaments that showcase our great city. We are proud to be a part of Heartland’s mission to continue developing the Kansas City soccer community and especially look forward to welcoming all of the Heartland Midwest Classic players and families to Prairiefire Labor Day weekend to dine, shop and play,” said Terri M. Thompson, Executive Director of The MAP + KC Urban Advantage.

“We are excited to extend our partnership with Prairiefire. We have been partners since 2016 and they have been our tournament title sponsor for the Heartland Midwest Classic since 2018,” said Shane Hackett, Heartland Soccer Association executive director. “Prairiefire is located in the heart of Overland Park and has incredible restaurants, shopping, events and an engaging museum our coaches, teams and their families can visit.”

Considering the importance of local media to our sport, we encourage and invite the media to attend and cover the event. The first set of games will start at 5:30PM on Friday, September 2. Saturday and Sunday games will begin at approximately 8:00AM with the award ceremonies starting after noon on Sunday.

The Heartland Soccer Fall Tournament Series includes seven exceptional tournaments. Up next in the series are the Midwest All Boys and Midwest All Girls Tournaments, which are expected to bring in more than 700 teams over the two weekends.
